Today's Gay Rights Movement is one of the most prominent discussion points in the social and political atmosphere. There is hardly a day that goes by that one or more media sources doesn't cover something that has to do with Gay advocacy or opposition. Gay marriage being in the forefront lately. Openly gay Military service is about to be a reality, with the
recent repeal of President Clinton's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. This isn't limited to politics. This includes religious discussion - the Presbyterian Church isn't small, and fractures and rifts because of gay clergy and homosexual acceptance within their Christian denominations is a real event and a relevant side effect of change.
The movement is alive and well - if it were not, things like the Defense of Marriage Act would not have been dreamed of. Time will tell if the movement's goals will be finally realized or their issues trivialized, but it's looking like it's making strides.
